I absolutely love teaching here in Columbia!
I began teaching at Park Elementary School in 1988 after graduating from Lock Haven University with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education. My first eight years were in a Learning Support Classroom (Kindergarten through 4th grade). I then moved into the sixth grade and have been here ever since. I teach Science to all the sixth grade students. I also teach Language Arts and Writing.
I am married to Troy Hoffman and have two daughters, Corin and Abby. Corin is married to Eric, and lives in the Gettysburg School District. They have one daughter, Caroline...and yes... that makes me a grandmother. We are big Penn State fans, as Abby played Field Hockey there. We enjoyed traveling across the country to watch her play. She graduated from PSU and is in now working in Alaska. As you may have noticed from the picture above, I love English Springer Spaniels! We have two, Nik and Tucker, and we love spending time with them outdoors. My husband and I enjoy outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, kayaking, and gardening.
I am a graduate of Donegal High School where I participated in Field Hockey, Basketball, and Track and Field. I was proud to be inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame. I played Field Hockey at Lock Haven University, and was an assistant coach at both Donegal and Manheim Central years ago.
